Guest Post by Peter Jordan
We're staying at home this week. Whatever the particulars of the Trayvon
Martin/George Zimmerman altercation, no one denies that a 17 year old
boy was shot and killed. Questlove (Ahmir Thompson) wrote a column about
being black and scary in society. We'll borrow one of his songs with a
pertinent message:

De La Soul, "A Roller Skating Jam Named "Saturdays""
Well, unfortunately GoogaMooga was cancelled due to inclement weather yesterday. The worst part? No De La Soul! So here's a small consolation prize... five days early. Enjoy!

Beastie Boys, "The Sounds of Science"
Saturday marked one year since the passing of Adam Yauch, aka MCA. From Paul's Boutique, here's the under-appreciated, idiosyncratic, accelerating "The Sounds of Science." Enjoy.

MARCH OF THE COVERS: The Fugees, "Killing Me Softly" (Roberta Flack)
We had the luxury of spending the weekend with my father-in-law, who had the good sense to recommend one of the greatest covers in the history of music--Lauryn Hill, Wyclef and Pras, with their unforgettable remix of the Roberta Flack classic. Enjoy.

XV, "The Kick"
Reppin' the 316, baby... here's Wichita's own XV.
And people think I relocated on the East Coast
But I still hold it down in the town I speak for
Towing my city behind me like it was repoed
In a game full of sharks but there ain't no cheat codes
Enjoy!

Leaders of the New School, "Case of the P.T.A."
The 2012 Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival hits Pier 3 of Brooklyn Bridge Park today! From noon until 3:00pm, come out to the park for Family Day and some slick DJing. From 3 to 8:00pm, luminaries and up-and-comers such as Freeway, DJ Scratch, Prodigy (from Mobb Deep) and Ana Tijoux will take the stage. Headlining and hitting cleanup... the legendary Busta Rhymes, who will reportedly be joined by Q-Tip (last year's headliner), Rakim and Raekwon.
Additionally, Busta will be reuniting with the Leaders of the New School, shown here in 1991's "Case of the P.T.A." Enjoy!
