The Beta Band, "Dry the Rain"

From The Three EPs, and central to a memorable scene from High Fidelity.  For additional reading, check out this Guardian piece from a few years back, which ponders their break-up and inexplicable lack of mainstream acceptance.  Enjoy!

Fashawn, "When She Calls"

From his 2009 debut album, Boy Meets World.  As an aside, take a look at the wonderful closing line from the "Career" section of his wikipedia bio (you know, the part about "Grizzly City Kush").  Enjoy!

Heart, "Alone"

The standout track from their 1987 album Bad Animals, Heart took complete ownership of the song, written four years prior by Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly (who later wrote "Like a Virgin" and "True Colors").  Evidently Kelly provided harmony ("high harmony," in fact... but definitely not Cooleyhighharmony) on the recording.  Don't blink, or you might miss Nancy Wilson magically galloping in on horseback.  This goes out to Maura and Sara...  Enjoy!

(NOT QUITE) OPEN REQUEST SUNDAY: Bread, "Guitar Man"

Our cab driver turned entertainer when this song came on the radio yesterday,.  His ringing endorsement (he enjoys playing it on his guitar, too) convinced me that if he knew Tuna Day existed and had an Open Request Sunday, he would most definitely vote for some Bread.  Enjoy!

The Beatles, "Dig a Pony"

From their rooftop performance above the Apple studios in 1969 (their last public performance together). Maybe this YouTube commenter can say more eloquently what you might be unable to verbalize right now:

"This song makes jump out of bed, run naked through town, climb a big tree and swing through the trees, sky dive while trying to hunt birds in the air, cause a riot, dig a pony, grow my hair really long, wave it through the air, feel like Jesus, wake up, repeat."

And yes, I'm slowly discovering that when I have nothing to say about a song, I can always rely on YouTube comments as a crutch. Enjoy!
